SCHEDULING TIPS

Chim Cheree The Chimney Specialists strongly recommends that you make your chimney sweeping and inspection appointment in the late summer or early fall. From September through December, our CSIA-certified chimney sweeps are extremely busy with full schedules of chimney maintenance appointments. Since we do require you or someone else to be at your home when we sweep and inspect your chimney, it can be challenging to find an open appointment that works with your own busy schedule. National fire safety groups like the CSIA and the National Fire Protection Association recommend having your chimney professionally swept and inspected before you light the first fire of the year, which means if you wait too long to schedule this appointment with us, you risk not being able to use your fireplace as soon as you would like. Procrastinating for too long can even cause you to end up waiting until after the Thanksgiving holidays to have your chimney serviced. We know our customers love burning fires during the winter holiday seasons, which is why we recommend taking care of this maintenance task in the late summer or early fall.

THE IMPORTANCE OF AN ANNUAL CHIMNEY SWEEPING AND INSPECTION

According to the CSIA, dirty chimneys can cause chimney fires. When Chim Cheree The Chimney Specialists sweeps your chimney, we make sure to remove every bit of creosote from the inside of your chimney. A natural compound that forms during the combustion process of burning wood, creosote is so highly flammable that the CSIA has named it as a leading cause of chimney fires. After we have thoroughly swept your chimney, we will then inspect it to look for any damage or other problems that could cause your chimney to be unsafe to use. We are on the lookout for flue blockages that could force carbon monoxide back into your home as well as for masonry damage that could lead to serious water leaks. Once we have completed the inspection, we will provide you with a written evaluation of your chimney. If we do find any problems, we will give you photographic evidence and a written estimate of the repairs that are necessary to make your chimney function safely and efficiently.
