Firebox Rebuilds & Renovations

The area in your fireplace that holds the fire itself — the firebox — can, very understandably, begin to show signs of wear and tear over time.

After all, it’s standing up to the high heat of the fire use after use, and that, in and of itself, can contribute to the formation of cracks in the firebox’s masonry. But heat certainly isn’t the only cause of firebox troubles. As your home naturally settles, the mortar joints in the firebox can crack or separate, and leaks that allow water to get into your system can erode those joints slowly, too.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone to hear how dangerous a damaged firebox can be. Cracks and gaps can allow heat and fire to reach combustible materials in the walls, causing a rapidly-spreading house fire.

When you have your annual chimney inspection, Chim Cheree, The Chimney Specialists’ technicians will check for problems in your firebox, and recommend the appropriate repairs (if necessary). With a Chim Cheree inspection, you’ll be shown photos of the damage and be given a detailed explanation of what repairs are needed. If you notice cracks or gaps in your firebox in between inspections, call us — we can help make sure your fireplace is still safe for use.

Repairs Or Replacement: Chim Cheree Can Help Your Firebox Become Like New

If the firebricks in your firebox are still in useable condition, we can recommend tuckpointing work to repair the masonry. We’ll remove the damaged mortar joints and repair them, using proper refractory mortar that can withstand the heat in your firebox.

But when damage is more significant, we’ll most likely recommend that the firebox be rebuilt. We’ll remove the damaged firebox and build a brand new one, brick by brick, to meet with your needs and taste. When we’re done with our repairs, you’ll not only have a safe firebox, but one that works far more efficiently than the one that was removed.

Let us bring your firebox back to life. Contact Chim Cheree, The Chimney Specialists, at 864-895-4204, or use our online scheduling form!

Masonry repairs can be complex and you need to know that your fireplace repair or renovation is being handled by people with the training and experience to know what they are doing. That’s the perfect reason to call on the specialists at Chim Cheree!

Thank you for forcing me to make what I think was the only sensible decision I could have — even though I’m having a hard time “swallowing” it. It would simply be a big mistake to continue with wood. I could find myself at any time unable to cut it myself, and buying would be out of the question. I have often regretted that I even looked up my chimney–everything has worked so well and economically with the situation I have had for all these years. I have decided to convert everything to gas — hot water heater, furnace, fireplace, stove, dryer, etc. It was your intelligent advice that made me finally come to the right conclusion. I really appreciate your interest and professional advice and will be willing to compensate you for your help. Thanks again and knowing that this won’t put any bread on the table, consider me a satisfied “non customer”.
