Now, we would like to tell you more about how we can troubleshoot for chimney problems.

What is the first step Chim Cheree The Chimney Specialists takes when troubleshooting for chimney problems?

When we are called about a problem with a chimney, the first thing we do is schedule an appointment for a chimney inspection. However, not all chimney problems are obvious. This is why our technicians need to get a detailed look into your chimney to see how its parts are functioning. We provide three levels of chimney inspections that have been established by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)  in their Code 211: Standard for Chimneys, Fireplaces, Vents, and Solid Fuel-Burning Appliances. These guidelines were set to make sure homeowners across the country receive a thorough and accurate appraisal of the condition of their system.

What does each level of chimney inspection involve?

If you are having your chimney swept, you will receive the most basic inspection, a Level 1. This includes an examination of the readily accessible parts of the chimney’s interior and exterior, as well as the connection of the appliance to the chimney. We will make sure that the structure of the chimney is sound and stable. Also, we make sure that everything is properly connected. If there has been a change to your system, you will need a Level 2 chimney inspection.

This level is more in-depth as it includes an inspection of the attic, basement, or crawl spaces. You will also need a Level 2 inspection if your property is being bought or sold. In addition, if an external event (such as a lightning strike) has caused damage to your chimney. If any problems are found, you will need a Level 3 inspection. This includes removing certain components of the chimney and the home.

What happens after the inspection?

Once we have finished performing the inspection, we will provide you with a written evaluation of your chimney system. If problems are found, we will give you pictures of the damage. We will also explain how we can repair the damage to make your chimney safe to use again. Chim Cheree will make sure that you are completely informed about the condition of your chimney system.

If you suspect you have a chimney problem, contact us at Chim Cheree The Chimney Specialists. We will be happy to schedule an appointment for our CSIA-certified chimney technicians to inspect your chimney.
